Undoubtedly, one of the concerns of the “Institute for Research and Prevention of Chronic Diseases”, IIPEC, are the diseases caused in man by the HCV (hepatitis C virus),  HBV (Hepatitis B Virus) and HIV (human Immunodeficiency Virus).

Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver usually caused by a viral infection, of which are known five types of virus, designated A, B, C, D and E, which are of greatest concern because of the high morbidity and mortality that causing and the possibility of generating epidemics. In particular, types B and C that together are the most common cause of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Excessive consumption of alcohol, toxins, certain medications and certain medical conditions can also cause hepatitis.

Where appropriate, the HIV (HIV) attacks the immune system and weakens defense systems against infections, gradually returning immunodeficient to the patients, up to reach an advanced stage of infection which is known as “AIDS” (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome), which may take 2-15 years to manifest clinically, depending of the subject.
